The Coalition welcomes you to beautiful Durham, New Hampshire, a college town nestled between the White Mountains/Lakes Region of New Hampshire and our 18 miles of seacoast in the state. The University of New Hampshire is an hour’s drive or train ride to Boston, Massachusetts, in one direction and Portland, Maine, in the other, New Hampshire is located squarely in New England with an independent streak.

Located just 15 minutes from the lovely seacoast city of Portsmouth, 25 minutes from Atlantic Ocean beaches, 1 hour from the mountains, and about 1 hour from Boston, MA and Portland, ME, we encourage you to take adavantage of the lovely summer weather in our region and perhaps plan to tack on some exploration time to our conference.

The conference committee chose New Hampshire in July to take advantage of the summer weather and tourist attractions in the region, while being able to keep conference costs as affordable as possible by using the University’s dorm rooms, campus buildings, and resources. New Hampshire is known worldwide for its fall foliage, and in the summer months, hotels are booked solid sometimes years in advance. Staying on campus, in UNH’s slow season, lets us share with you the beautiful warm summer weather and green landscapes in our neck of the woods. We are planning an inspiring, casual Fem Rhet Conference during the day, and fun summer camp at night: enjoy a swimming pool get together, game nights, trails in the woods, a family movie night, and maybe smore’s around a fire pit!
